Writing Tools
It's been fairly challenging to find a place to write from, that I can use anywhere between my Mac, my Android while on-the-go, that I can publish online without giving all my data and ownership away, without costing an arm and a leg, and without having to spend too much time managing.
In the past, I used to manage a self-hosted Ghost blog, but the pain was real. It worked really well until it didn't, and upgrading and managing was a chore. Just too much mental strain to add to everything else.
Hugo and Astro blogs are similarly really nice, but maintaining a theme and upgrading is a MAJOR pain in the neck. I suppose I don't "have" to upgrade and such, and can just pin a version that works, but, it doesn't feel sustainable. There will come a time where you will have to take the large endeavor to "migrate". I don't really want that.
Ghost is actually a platform I really love, because it hits most of the right marks. It is open source, looks good, feels good, is very flexible. It's nice.
I ended up settling down on Ghost, and am currently writing this piece of content from JotterPad on Android. I hope this ends well. 😅
Some really nice notes to Octarine, which is an amazing writing tool, but only on desktop for now. I love it and it syncs to your git repo so you keep complete control.
AnyType is another amazing tool, but, it's a bit on the heavy side, and I don't think you can publish from it. Though I'll check if there can be an integration done somehow.
P.S.: testing to see if the editing UX of Ghost on a mobile web browser (brave) is good enough. So far so good. That'sThat'sThat'sTha (well, it has that slide-to-swipe-duplicates-text bug... AnnoyingAnnoying)
